What is Sacral Chakra?

The sacral chakra, also known as the second chakra. Seat of the emotional body, sensuality and creativity.

The sacral chakra, also known as the second chakra. The seat of the emotional body, sensuality, and creativity.

It is usually found around three inches below the navel, at the center of your lower belly. You can also find your sacral chakra at the level of the lumbar vertebrae, in the region of your reproductive organs.

Associated with the water element, it resembles its energy of ebb and flow. The sacral chakra allows you to be flexible as you feel the world around you.

Being in the moment and immersed in your thoughts and emotions is the gift your 2nd chakra gives you. Allowing you to be one and in tune with your environment.

A balanced sacral chakra manifests in harmonious, nurturing, and satisfying relationships with others and the world.

Some psychological and behavioral influences of the sacral chakra are:

  • Expression of sexuality, sensual pleasure
  • Fantasies
  • Feeling the outer and inner worlds
  • Emotions, feelings
  • Creativity
  • Relationships, relating to others

While an imbalance in your 2nd chakra energy can show as:

  • Overindulgence in fantasies, sexual obsessions
  • Feeling stuck in a particular feeling or mood
  • The opposite: Feeling numb, out of touch with yourself and how you feel
  • Being ruled by your emotions
  • Or the opposite: Lack of sexual desire or satisfaction
  • Dependency, co-dependency with other people, or a substance that grants you easy access to pleasure

Easy tips to balance your sacral chakra today

Sit comfortably in your normal meditation posture.

Visualise an orange spinning chakra in the lower abdomen below the navel.

Imagine a circle of orange light emanating from your chakra and spreading to the rest of your body in wave-like ripples.

Feel a sense of warmth enveloping the whole body, starting with the lower abdominal area and then radiating out.

Keep meditating on these ‘waves of warmth’ and allow yourself to let go and flow like water.

Do this for 10–20 minutes.
